Slide guitarist, producer, and recording artist. Iron Mike Norton is described by peers and critics as one of the most innovative and creative artists in the genre. Iron Mike combines elements of modern styles like hip hop, rock and techno with traditional hill country slide guitar and roots rock. The result is a sound truly unique to Iron Mike alone.
Based out of the swamps of Florida, Iron Mike signed his first record deal in 1995 as a country artist, not rock. He was subsequently nominated for Best New Artist at the King Eagle Awards the following year in Nashville. Since then, he has performed for audiences in both the USA and abroad. His ability to cross over into other formats has garnered him the opportunity to work with top artists from not only blues, but artists such as Willie Nelson, The Outlaws, Lyle Lovett, songwriter Bill Dees (Oh, Pretty Woman), and his mentor, Sonny Landreth.
For a number of people, their first Iron Mike experience came at actor Morgan Freeman's, legendary Ground Zero Blues Club in Clarksdale, Mississippi, where Iron Mike was one of the regular host bands for about 2 years, and played a whopping three shows during the 2014 Juke Joint Festival.
2019 is turning out to be a showcase of exactly the kind of broad range Mike has in his arsenal, with the release FOUR EP's, in four different genres in a single year. With the first dropping April 5, Iron Mike rolls out, Arc Angel, his first EP recorded exclusively for AAA radio ever. By mid summer, Mike gives long time fans another dose of swamp stomp, with another EP, The Invisible Man, just in time for two back to back tours, including the upcoming roots rock Hillbilly Highway Tour, featuring Iron Mike co-headlining with alt-country artist, Jerry Castle.
With a third EP, and a live album slated for the winter, its gonna be a good year for fans of the Iron man. Check our tour dates page for shows near you.
